A doctor has been charged with a series of serious sexual offences involving 38 patients under his care, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed.
Nathaniel Spencer, 38, from Quinton, Birmingham, is alleged to have carried out the offences over a four-year period while working at hospitals in Stoke-on-Trent and Dudley.
According to the CPS, Mr Spencer faces 15 counts of sexual assault, 17 counts of assault by penetration, and nine counts of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13. He has also been charged with three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, along with one count of attempted assault by penetration.
The charges follow an extensive Staffordshire Police investigation into alleged incidents involving patients at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley between 2017 and 2021.
Detectives examined allegations from 38 individuals who were receiving treatment during that period, leading to what the CPS described as a detailed and complex investigation before a charging decision was made.
Mr Spencer is scheduled to appear before the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 20 January 2026, where he will face the full set of allegations. The CPS stressed that the case is now active and that criminal proceedings are ongoing.
In the meantime, Mr Spencer has been suspended from practising medicine in the UK pending the outcome of the legal process. Authorities emphasised that the suspension is a precautionary measure to safeguard patients while the case proceeds through the courts.
