As the transfer window approaches, Victor Osimhen’s prospects appear to be improving, with Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh revealing that Real Madrid have a genuine interest in signing the Nigerian striker.
Although Oliseh declined to reveal the source of his information, he insisted the interest is real.
Osimhen has remained one of Europe’s most coveted forwards since guiding Napoli to the Serie A title in the 2022/23 campaign.
Following a lengthy and complex transfer saga, he eventually completed a permanent switch to Galatasaray in the summer of 2025 after spending the previous season on loan.
Speaking on the Global Football Insight Podcast, Oliseh explained:
“Real Madrid now have the luxury of telling Vinícius to move on if necessary, because Mbappé could return to his natural position. So it’s not a case of losing one player and losing quality.
“There’s a lot of underground conversation about Osimhen being a strong option. I won’t disclose how I got this information, but the discussions are real. Let’s see what happens. When I heard it from a top figure, I felt happy for the young man.”
If the transfer goes through, Osimhen would fit seamlessly into the squad, taking up the central striker role while allowing Kylian Mbappé to return to his preferred position on the left wing.
Osimhen enjoyed an outstanding 2024–25 campaign with Galatasaray, netting 35 goals in all competitions, including 26 in the Turkish Super Lig. He also scored five goals in the Turkish Cup, two of which came in the final and played a crucial part in securing the trophy for Galatasaray.
