Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has disputed the ruling of three major film industry guilds, describing their joint suspension statement as “inaccurate” and announcing plans to challenge the decision in court.
Arimoro’s suspension follows allegations of a physical altercation on the set of the movie Pieces of Love, involving producer Peggy Ovire.
The actor insists he was the victim in the confrontation, claiming he attempted to leave after his scheduled call time elapsed but was prevented from doing so.

According to him, Ovire allegedly blocked his vehicle and ordered her team to detain and assault him. Arimoro is now demanding N100 million in damages, dismissing Ovire’s version of events as “grossly misleading”.
Ovire, however, maintains that Arimoro was the aggressor and that he instigated the confrontation.
After reviewing the case, the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) jointly announced Arimoro’s indefinite suspension.
They also directed him to issue a public apology to Ovire and the film’s director, release a corrective video detailing the actual events, and return to complete his scenes under supervision.
Reacting to the ruling, Arimoro said his legal team is already taking steps to address what he called “unfounded claims”.
“To be honest, the statement given doesn’t capture the facts of the matter in any way, shape, or form,” he said. “My management and legal team are aware, and I will provide a comprehensive response tomorrow.
They are proceeding with the necessary action to address these claims.”
The unfolding dispute continues to generate conversation within the film industry, with both parties standing firm on their narratives as the case moves toward legal resolution.
