Nollywood filmmaker and industry stakeholder Ajemba Stanley Chibueze has publicly criticised the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), and the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) over their decision to suspend an actor identified as Mr. Taiye.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Ajemba expressed “deep concern and disappointment” about the judgement passed by the three major guilds, calling the suspension unfair and inconsistent with the principles expected from bodies tasked with protecting their members.

According to him, the suspension stemmed from an incident in which Mr. Taiye reportedly refused to film at midnight after allegedly being attacked by both the producer and the director on set.
Ajemba questioned why a member’s refusal to continue shooting under unsafe and traumatic conditions would result in disciplinary action rather than support.
He emphasised that the primary duty of guilds like AGN is to safeguard the welfare, rights, and safety of their members.
Ajemba argued that the handling of the case raises troubling concerns about whether these organisations prioritise member protection or side with influential figures in the industry.
“We urge a thorough review and investigation into this matter,” he stated, calling for a transparent process that considers all circumstances surrounding the incident.
He noted that impartiality and fairness must guide decisions involving actors’ safety.
Ajemba further appealed to the leadership of AGN, AMP, and DGN to revisit the suspension and address the issues raised, stressing that such actions are crucial for maintaining trust within the creative community.
He ended his message with: “Ontop Cares!!!” reinforcing his commitment to advocating for better treatment of actors in the industry.
