Former Big Brother Naija star Boma Akpore has opened up about a painful chapter in his personal life, the collapse of a relationship he believed would lead to marriage.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Boma disclosed that he had been in a serious relationship and was already making plans to propose.
According to him, the relationship was “amazing”, and he had scheduled a trip to the United States to purchase an engagement ring.

However, his hopes were cut short when his partner’s family rejected the idea of their union, citing concerns about his image in the public eye.
Boma explained that being a celebrity often comes with harsh judgement, and misconceptions about his life played a major role in their decision.
“I met someone that I really liked, and I was going to marry. I was supposed to be engaging her last August. I planned to go to America, get the ring, bring it back because I liked her, and I told her I wanted to marry her,” he said.
“It was an amazing relationship. We had a little bit of ups and downs, but it was perfect. I thought we had a perfect relationship till the family got involved and said, ‘This guy? Hell no, impossible.’”
The actor and former reality star said the rejection brought the relationship to an abrupt end, describing the experience as very discouraging.
He noted that the scrutiny that comes with being a public figure played a big role in the family’s hesitation.
“If I were not in the entertainment or public eye, nobody would know some things about me. Once you come into the public, that is the price you have to pay,” he added.
Boma’s revelation has sparked conversations online about the pressures celebrity figures face in their personal relationships, particularly when public perception gets in the way of private happiness.
