Sophia Momodu, the mother of Nigerian singer Davido’s first child, Imade Adeleke, addressed criticism surrounding her and her daughter’s absence from Davido’s recent birthday celebration.
She firmly denied claims that she prevented Imade from attending the event, which took place in Atlanta.
In a message shared on Snapchat, Sophia responded to the speculation and defended her actions as a mother.
She said she had grown tired of the false stories repeatedly pushed about her and her daughter for more than a decade. According to her, much of the information circulating online was unverified, misleading, and unfair to her child.

Sophia emphasised that her top priority had always been Imade’s privacy and emotional safety. She warned those spreading fabricated stories to stop dragging her child into public debates and online gossip.
She wrote, “You people have been doing this false narrative thing for over 10 years now. And while I try to be as graceful as I can, I’m also a very protective mother. Say whatever you want about me, it’s ok. But leave my child alone. This is non-negotiable. Imade is not a bargaining chip for her mother to conform.”
Her statement came after social media users questioned why Imade was absent from Davido’s 33rd birthday celebration in Atlanta.
The birthday event gathered several members of the singer’s family, friends, and children, including his daughter Hailey, from another relationship.
Photos and videos from the event quickly circulated online, sparking conversations and accusations against Sophia.
However, Sophia dismissed all such allegations. She described the rumours as careless and harmful, especially because they involved a child who had no say in the public drama. She stressed that she would never use her daughter to score points or win arguments.
In her Snapchat post, she cautioned that she would not hesitate to take legal action against people or platforms that continued to circulate false information about her daughter. She said protecting Imade’s image and mental well-being was non-negotiable.
Sophia also hinted that many narratives about her and Davido had been shaped by outsiders who lacked accurate information.
She noted that these narratives often resurfaced whenever Davido marked major events or family milestones.
The statement marked her latest attempt to correct public misconceptions about her relationship with Davido and their child.
She made it clear that Imade’s well-being would always be her priority and that no amount of online pressure would change how she protected her daughter.
For now, neither Davido nor his team has issued a public response to the claims or to Sophia’s statement. The matter continues to spark discussions online, with many fans hoping for a more peaceful and private co-parenting dynamic between the two.
