The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reacted to the in-flight confrontation involving social media personalities VeryDarkMan (VDM) and Mr. Jollof, describing the incident as “unruly behaviour” that endangered passengers and crew members.
In a statement released by the NCAA spokesperson, Mr Michael Achimugu, the authority expressed strong disapproval over the altercation, which occurred aboard a commercial flight and was later circulated widely on social media.

The spokesperson explained that the incident came to his attention shortly before takeoff, after he was tagged in an online post containing a video of the confrontation.
He noted that because the aircraft was preparing for taxiing, he had limited time to gather preliminary details before forwarding the issue to Consumer Protection Officers for investigation.
Upon landing at his transit airport, he discovered that his initial inquiry had been met with harsh criticism online. However, he dismissed the online backlash, stating that his role requires him to seek accurate information to respond professionally.
He emphasised that, procedurally, the airline involved is expected to file an official report with the NCAA. Once received, the matter will be transferred to the legal department for guidance and necessary action.
“There is no tolerance for unruly behaviour aboard an aircraft. Both individuals will face the full strength of the law,” the statement read. “It is even more shameful considering that both men often educate their millions of followers on avoiding unruly conduct.” He said.
The spokesperson added that he is awaiting full details from airline personnel to determine whether the pilot offloaded the two passengers before departure or allowed them to continue the flight. If the latter occurred, he warned that the airline could also face consequences.
He reminded the public that such behaviour jeopardises not only the safety of passengers and crew but also the aircraft itself. The NCAA, he said, has invested heavily in sensitisation campaigns to curb incidents of misconduct on flights.
“No matter what led to the fracas, there is no excuse that makes it acceptable,” he stated, noting that a comprehensive update or full statement will be issued once additional information is received.
The NCAA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safety and discipline within the aviation sector, stressing that all violators will be sanctioned according to aviation laws.
