The Nigerian Army (NA) has reiterated its commitment to transparency and efficiency in its procurement processes as part of efforts to boost operational readiness.
This commitment was restated by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant Gen. Waidi Shaibu, during the opening ceremony of the Directorate of Procurement Seminar on Wednesday in Abuja.
Represented by the Chief of Logistics (Army), Major Gen. Adekunle Adeyinka, the COAS said the seminar was designed to build the capacity of procurement personnel and align Army practices with international standards.

He commended the Directorate of Procurement for its achievements since 2015 and reaffirmed collaboration with key institutions such as the Bureau of Public Procurement, Central Bank of Nigeria, and Office of the Auditor General of the Federation to ensure accountability and value-driven procurement.
The Acting Director of Procurement, Brigadier Gen. Sadisu Yakasai, noted that the Army’s procurement efforts have focused on acquiring new capabilities, building infrastructure, and maintaining existing assets to support its missions.
The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr Adebowale Adedokun, represented by Engr Isah Yusuf, stressed the importance of aligning the military procurement strategies with global best practices while respecting legal frameworks.
The seminar drew participants from the Defence Headquarters, military formations, and relevant government agencies.
