Nollywood actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels has opened up about her troubled marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, revealing that her mother, Rita Daniels, initially warned her against the union, but she went ahead because she was deeply in love.
In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram on Wednesday, the actress appealed to Nigerians to stop insulting her mother, emphasizing that her decision to marry the billionaire politician was her own.

Regina explained that her mother had always been a source of strength and support, especially during the challenges that followed her marriage.
She said critics had unfairly blamed Rita Daniels for her marital woes, but insisted that her mother had done her best to protect her.
“The main essence of this video is to please, stop insulting my mom. For some reason, I feel like I owe you all this explanation because I don’t know why everyone is in pain about my life. But I don’t feel like you all are pained from a bad side.
So please, stop insulting my mom. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She is my god on earth. She’s been strong for seven years. My mom held it down. She tried. You all insulted her. But she tried. It’s me. I’m the one with the coconut head,” she said.
The actress admitted that she ignored her family’s warnings because she genuinely believed in love. She said, “I’m so ashamed to say I fell in love. But I actually really did. Everyone said no, my mom too, but I didn’t listen. I fell in love, and it’s wild, but I did.”
Regina also debunked long-standing claims that she married Nwoko out of greed or financial desperation, stressing that her family was not struggling financially before her marriage.
“You all should stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me, no. We were not broke. Does that make sense? And secondly, what do you guys think? What money can a man give to a mother to get her child, who practically provides everything in the house? My mom trained all her children through me,” she added.

The actress further disclosed that the intense public criticism and emotional pressure surrounding her marriage once drove her to the brink of suicidal thoughts. However, she said she has chosen to remain strong for the sake of her children.
Despite the turmoil, Regina expressed her determination to fight for her kids and rebuild her life, while urging fans and the public to show compassion rather than judgment.
Her emotional confession has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing empathy and support for the actress, while others praised her courage for speaking openly about her struggles.
