Embattled American rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially been scheduled for release from prison, according to an update from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The Bureau announced on Monday, October 27, 2025, that Diddy, who is currently serving a four-year prison sentence, is expected to regain his freedom on May 8, 2028, roughly three years from now.
The update comes three weeks after the hip-hop icon was handed his sentence, marking a significant development in one of the most high-profile celebrity legal cases in recent years.

Diddy, 55, was convicted on two counts of interstate prostitution, following a lengthy federal investigation that led to his arrest in September 2024 in New York.
His arrest came after a grand jury indictment, which accused him of running a cross-state criminal operation connected to sex trafficking and related offenses.
The case drew widespread media attention, with the rapper’s properties in Miami and Los Angeles raided by federal agents as part of the investigation.
The sentencing, which took place earlier this month, saw the court hand Diddy a 50-month imprisonment term after he entered a plea deal that reduced his potential sentence from what could have been over a decade.
The plea agreement reportedly involved his cooperation in certain aspects of the investigation, although specific details remain sealed.
Since his arrest, Diddy has been held in federal custody, where sources close to the case report he has maintained a relatively low profile. His legal team has repeatedly emphasized that he is focused on “reflection and accountability,” though they have not ruled out pursuing an appeal or sentence reduction.
The once-celebrated rapper, producer, and businessman, known for his trailblazing influence in hip-hop through Bad Boy Records and his fashion and liquor ventures, has seen his empire shaken by a string of allegations and criminal proceedings.
Multiple civil lawsuits and corporate partnerships were suspended following his arrest, with major brands distancing themselves from the embattled artist.
Before his legal troubles, Diddy was one of the most powerful figures in entertainment, credited with launching the careers of artists such as The Notorious B.I.G., Mase, Faith Evans, and French Montana, while also amassing a vast fortune through music, fashion, and business.
With his expected release in 2028, questions now arise about whether Diddy can rebuild his public image and business network or if this marks the closing chapter of a once-glittering career.
For now, Diddy remains in federal prison, serving his term quietly, with the eyes of the entertainment world watching closely as one of hip-hop’s most controversial stories continues to unfold.
