Investigations into the death of a 23-year-old woman by detectives in Nottinghamshire have led to a man being charged with murder.
Adedapo Adegbola, 40, of Woodborough Road, Mapperley, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with murder two days later.
He was remanded in custody ahead of his appearance at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
The victim, Stephania Irons, was found dead by emergency services following a call to an address on Westdale Lane West, Mapperley.
Police said they believe the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
Nottinghamshire Police revealed that a 40-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail under strict conditions.
Speaking on the incident, the senior investigating officer, Det Insp Stuart Barson, stated: “This is a truly tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with Steph’s family and friends, who have asked for privacy at what must be an extremely difficult time.”
He revealed that “specially trained officers are providing them with support, and this will continue throughout the investigation process.”
“Our team of investigators has worked extremely hard over the past few days to determine the full circumstances of what happened, and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect in this case,” he added.
Appreciating the community for their cooperation in the investigation, he said: “I would like to thank the local community for their patience and support over the last few days, which has enabled us to progress the investigation.”
