The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing an internal dispute after the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, countered the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, regarding the dissolution of the party’s Akwa Ibom State Executive Committee (Exco).
Ologunagba had issued a statement yesterday, announcing the immediate dissolution of the Akwa Ibom Exco.

This move was followed by the constitution of a 31-member caretaker committee, chaired by Igwat Umoren, to manage the party’s affairs in the state for a period of three months, pending new state congresses.
However, Anyanwu, in a statement addressed to the embattled State Chairman of the Akwa Ibom PDP, declared Ologunagba’s pronouncement null and void.
Anyanwu clarified that “there was no formal sitting of the National Working Committee in which such a decision was taken.”
He insisted that the press release should be “disregarded.”
Furthermore, he argued that it is “not in the official capacity and duties of the Ologunagba to take actions relating to the implementation of the decisions of the National Working Committee.”

Anyanwu stated, “The state working committee of the PDP, Akwa Ibom state, stands undissolved,” and instructed the State Chairman to “continue in your duties as provided in the PDP constitution 2017 as amended.”
