The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced N8.561m as the final fare for intending pilgrims undertaking the 2026 Holy pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the state.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin.
He confirmed that the state’s fare aligns with the general Hajj fares for the 2026 season declared by the Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Abdullahi Usman.

Sale specified N8.561m for states in Nigeria’s Southern zone, to which Lagos belongs. The NAHCON fare structure also mandates pilgrims in the Maiduguri-Yola Zone (Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba) to pay N8.12 million while other Northern States are expected to pay ₦8.24 million
Ajomagberin affirmed that the announcement successfully “cleared the apprehension surrounding the actual fare to be charged for the 2026 spiritual exercise,” adding that it provides “ample time to plan ahead for the exercise” for both intending pilgrims and stakeholders.
The Board’s scribe urged all intending pilgrims, particularly those who have made part-payments, to “try as much as possible to complete the fare on or before the new deadline of December 31, 2025,” as announced by the NAHCON CEO.
Those who have yet to make any commitment were also “urged to begin payment without further delay.”
To streamline the process, he stressed that the state will accept the Hajj payment in three installments, which must be made through a “bank draft raised from any commercial bank, in favour of ‘Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board’.”
In addition to the Hajj fare, Ajomagberin provided an update on the 2026 Ramadan Umrah.
He confirmed that the State is “making progress on its plans towards a successful Umrah during the last 10 days of Ramadan” and has fixed N5.7 million as “the lowest amongst the packages available” for intending Umrah pilgrims in both Makkah and Madinah.
He noted that other packages and benefits depend on “affordability and a matter of choice.”

The Lagos Muslim Board earlier set an initial deposit of N8.5 million and a deadline of October 8, 2025. The new official fare and the December 31, 2025, deadline from NAHCON now supersede the previous timeline.
Ajomagberin promised that, as is customary, the State would ensure a comfortable atmosphere for pilgrims to achieve “convenient and fulfilling Hajj and Umrah exercises in the Holy land.”
