President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos for a working visit to the former seat of government as Nigeria prepares for a subdued 65th Independence Anniversary celebration.
The visit follows his attendance at the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, as the Olubadan of Ibadanland in Ibadan, Oyo State.
During his stay in Lagos, President Tinubu is scheduled to engage with key private sector stakeholders and senior government officials to discuss critical national issues.
The visit underscores his administration’s commitment to fostering collaboration with Nigeria’s economic drivers ahead of the anniversary.
On Tuesday, 30 September, the President will travel to Imo State to commission projects spearheaded by Governor Hope Uzodimma, highlighting the government’s focus on infrastructure development.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, Tinubu will also commission the remodelled National Theatre in Lagos, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, in honour of the renowned Nobel laureate.
The low-key anniversary reflects the administration’s sensitivity to Nigeria’s current economic challenges while marking the nation’s 65 years of independence.
Tinubu’s engagements in Lagos and Imo are expected to reinforce his government’s agenda of economic recovery and cultural preservation.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the itinerary, noting the significance of these events in showcasing the administration’s achievements.
