President Bola Tinubu on Friday declared that Nigeria’s economy has “turned the corner” during his address at the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Tinubu attributed the success of his administration’s economic reforms, initiated over two years ago, to the resilience and support of Nigerians.
He assured citizens they would soon reap the benefits of these reforms, stating, “There is now light at the end of the tunnel.”

The President, who described the occasion as a personal homecoming, praised Oba Ladoja, the state’s former governor and senator, for his contributions to Nigeria’s democracy, particularly his perseverance through an illegal impeachment.
Tinubu expressed joy at witnessing his friend’s ascension, saying, “I pray you will live long and be celebrated as one of the rare leaders to ascend the throne of your forefathers.”
He also extended birthday wishes to the new Olubadan, noting their shared history and the significance of the moment.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who presented Oba Ladoja with the staff of office and certificate, hailed the coronation as a resolution to disputes over Ibadan’s traditional thrones.
“All challenges associated with the Ibadan traditional institution are now over,” Makinde declared, affirming the process as sacrosanct.
He thanked Tinubu for honouring the occasion with his presence, noting it marked an end to rancour over Ibadan’s kingship.
Oba Ladoja, reflecting on his journey from Mogaji of the Arusa family in 1992 to Olubadan, described his ascension as a testament to destiny.
