Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has approved a significant shake-up at the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, involving redeployments and new appointments effective immediately.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, in a statement released in Makurdi.
As part of the restructuring, Denen Aondoakaa, the former Special Adviser in charge of the Bureau, has been reassigned to the Office of the Chief of Staff at Government House.
Barrister Ajinge Saar and Derby Amine are to return to the Ministry of Justice, while Mrs. Galu has been moved to the Accountant General’s office.
Shagba Ahura and Rhoda Aboh are both directed to resume duties at the Office of the Head of Service.
To fill critical roles at the Bureau, Governor Alia appointed Terna Ayu as Permanent Secretary, Terkura B. Dzwungwe as Director of Accounts and Finance, Sule J. Liambee as Director of Administration and Supply, Esther Osugh as Cashier, and Uza Christopher Uza as Director of Local Government Services.
Additionally, Mr. Noel Wende has been transferred from the Benue Investment and Property Company to the Office of the Head of Service.
Governor Alia instructed all affected officers to report to their new duty posts by 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
The reshuffle is seen as part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and coordination within the state’s administrative framework, particularly in local government administration and chieftaincy affairs.
The changes are expected to strengthen the Bureau’s operations and align with the administration’s agenda to deliver effective governance across Benue state as the 2027 elections approach.
