The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has categorically dismissed claims by Prof. Udenta that the ruling party will collapse before the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, the party’s spokesman, Mr Seye Oladejo, labelled Udenta’s prediction as “theatrics, cheap and empty talk,” accusing him of engaging in baseless rhetoric.
Udenta, the founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), made the bold assertion during a television interview on Tuesday, suggesting that internal crises and governance challenges would lead to the APC’s demise.
His remarks have stirred debate, prompting a swift and scathing response from the APC, which insists it is growing stronger daily.
Oladejo, in his statement, challenged Udenta’s claims, asserting that the APC is experiencing significant growth rather than decline.
“Instead of collapse, the APC is increasing in leaps and bounds and getting stronger each day,” he declared.
He criticised Udenta’s forecast as lacking substance, stating, “Predicting the fall of a party from a studio chair does not make the forecast true.
Udenta’s interview was loud on rhetoric and short on evidence a predictable pattern when critics mistake wishful thinking for analysis.”
The APC spokesman invited Udenta to visit the party’s grassroots structures to witness its vibrancy.
“We invite him to step out of the broadcast booth and tour our structures, where millions of Nigerians are organising, volunteering, and registering their commitment to progressive governance,” Oladejo said, highlighting the party’s robust membership drives and active supporter base, particularly in Lagos, a key political stronghold.
The party, however, remains defiant, with Oladejo reaffirming its commitment to unity and electoral dominance.
