Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has described President Bola Tinubu as a “well-known tax collector,” while also acknowledging some of his administration’s economic progress.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Adebayo noted that Tinubu’s approach to tax collection is an improvement over the “disorganized system” he inherited.
“He did tax collection in Lagos and he came to do tax collection in Abuja,” Adebayo stated, referring to Tinubu’s previous role as governor.

Adebayo, however, cautioned that while Tinubu has stabilized the economy, he may not have fully identified the core problems plaguing the country.
He compared the current economic situation to an “emergency room patient” that has been stabilized but not yet cured.
The former presidential candidate also commented on the state of the economy under the previous administration, saying it was “a poorly managed economy.”
He credited Tinubu with taking steps to address the issues, but noted that some of these actions have “actually aggravated the case of the patient.”
