The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of entering “panic mode” ahead of the 2027 general elections, alleging that the APC is frantically seeking endorsements for President Bola Tinubu.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba claimed the APC’s early campaign activities violate the 2022 Electoral Act.
Ologunagba attributed the APC’s actions to anxiety over the PDP’s ongoing internal recalibration, which he described as a strength rooted in reconciliation and inclusivity.
“The PDP is well known to Nigeria, doing what it knows how to do best: reconciliation, getting people together, working together and giving everybody a sense of belonging,” he stated.
He argued that the APC’s nervousness stems from the his party’s efforts to unify its ranks and regain public trust.
The opposition party spokesperson further alleged that Tinubu and the APC are engaging in “endorsement shopping” to bolster their electoral prospects, a move he portrayed as a desperate response to the opposition’s resurgence.
The accusations come amid heightened political activity, with both parties positioning themselves for the 2027 polls.
