Popular singer and activist Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has announced that he is actively looking for a wife for his 46-year-old son.
The entertainer made the revelation in a post on X on Friday, sharing details about the man and the kind of partner his family seeks.
Charly Boy said his son is a master’s degree holder and stands 5 ft 11 ins tall. He added that the man was previously married but later divorced and now appears cautious about relationships.
“E don marry once, divorce. Now, e be like say e dey fear woman,” the elder entertainer wrote in pidgin, expressing both concern and a father’s determination to help.
In the post, Charly Boy set clear conditions for interested women. He asked specifically for candidates from “a good home with humble beginnings”.
Above all, he insisted on academic authenticity. “If you’re not an authentic graduate, don’t bother,” he warned, stressing that only genuine graduates should apply.

He also described his son as “very humble” and said the young man will be returning to Nigeria next month.
“He is coming next month. I need to tie him to Nigeria,” Charly Boy added, signalling that marriage could be a way to re-anchor his son to the country.
The announcement is unusually public for a matter that families typically handle in private. But Charly Boy has long been a showman who blends activism and entertainment.
By going on X, he turned a family matter into a headline-making call for prospective partners.
He wrote:
“My people, I still dey look for wife for dis my son.” Then he listed the essential age (46), education (master’s degree), height (5 ft 11 ins), and temperament (very humble) — and reiterated the preference for women from modest, respectable backgrounds.

Fans and followers responded quickly online. Some praised the father’s frankness and his desire to find a grounded partner for his son. Others treated the announcement as light entertainment, joking about application forms and interviews.
A few users urged Charly Boy to let his son lead the search, warning that public matchmaking can backfire.
This is not the first time Charly Boy has shared personal family matters with the public. The entertainer often uses social media to start conversations, sometimes serious, sometimes playful, about culture, politics, and relationships. His latest post follows that pattern, blending social commentary with personal interest.
Charly Boy was clear on one point: authenticity matters. He stressed that the woman must be a genuine graduate. He also wanted someone shaped by humble beginnings, a phrase that suggests he values modesty, resilience, and family values over wealth or high social status.
He invited interested women to DM him on X. That call to action opens the door to a volley of messages, offers, and perhaps scrutiny. Whether the arrangement will lead to a match remains to be seen.
For now, Charly Boy has set the stage. He wants to “tie him to Nigeria” through marriage. How the public responds and whether a suitable bride will emerge will be the next chapter in this unusual, very public search for love.
