Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana has agreed a season-long loan move to Turkish club Trabzonspor from Manchester United.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that all documents on the player’s side have been signed, with final approval from Trabzonspor expected before Onana travels to Türkiye next week to complete the switch.
The arrival of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens has already reshaped the hierarchy at Old Trafford, with Altay Bayındır starting United’s opening three matches ahead of Onana.

The shift signalled that the 29-year-old was no longer part of Ruben Amorin’s immediate plans.
Trabzonspor, whose transfer window remains open until 12 September, are pushing to finalise the deal and hope to install Onana straight into their starting XI.
Onana’s career so far reflects consistency and elite-level achievement. Since signing for Manchester United in 2023, he was first-choice goalkeeper throughout his debut season, featuring in all 38 Premier League matches, keeping eight clean sheets, and appearing six times in the Champions League.
He also played a key role in United’s FA Cup triumph.
Before moving to Old Trafford, Onana spent the 2022/23 season at Inter Milan, where he delivered standout displays in Europe.
He kept eight clean sheets in 24 Serie A games and another eight in 13 Champions League appearances, helping Inter reach the final and earning a place in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season.
His most successful spell came at Ajax between 2015 and 2022. Over 148 appearances, he won three Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups.
Notably, his seven clean sheets in the 2018/19 Champions League helped Ajax reach the semi-finals.
On the international stage, Onana has won more than 30 caps for Cameroon, featuring at the 2022 World Cup and several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
Individually, he has been named Eredivisie Goalkeeper of the Year and included in UEFA’s elite squads, underscoring his status as one of Europe’s top keepers.

His loan switch to Trabzonspor now offers him regular football, the chance to regain sharpness, and an opportunity to attract suitors ahead of a potential permanent move away from Manchester United next summer.
