The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu as Chairman of its National Campaign Council for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election.
The ceremony, held at the National Working Committee (NWC) Hall of the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, underscored the party’s push to consolidate its influence in the South-East ahead of the crucial November poll.

Party insiders described the move as pivotal for mobilising resources and rallying support for the APC’s yet-to-be-announced candidate in Anambra, where the party has made steady inroads despite the dominance of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Otu, elected in 2023 under the APC banner, has built a reputation for prioritising infrastructure and economic revitalisation in Cross River.
His selection signalled the party’s confidence in his ability to bridge regional divides and appeal to Anambra voters.
“This appointment is a testament to Governor Otu’s proven leadership and commitment to the APC’s progressive agenda,” APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said in a statement, stressing that the council’s mandate was to secure a “resounding victory” in the governorship election.
The inauguration came amid heightened political activity in Anambra, where incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA is seeking re-election.
APC leaders view the election as a major opportunity to expand their footprint in the South-East, following recent successes in neighbouring states.
