The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched its nationwide enlightenment campaign in Yobe State, a move designed to promote national unity and development.
The campaign, which was flagged off at a press conference in Damaturu, focuses on five key areas of national importance.
Representing the Director-General of NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu, the Director of Planning, Research and Strategy, Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi, outlined the five thematic areas of the campaign.
These include raising awareness about government policies, programmes and activities to help citizens understand and benefit from them; equipping communities with information on flood mitigation, early warnings and disaster preparedness; promoting national security awareness by encouraging vigilance, intelligence sharing and community cooperation.

Others are fostering national values re-orientation among students and youth to instill patriotism, civic responsibility and discipline; and advancing the Nigerian Identity Project to strengthen national pride and respect for symbols of unity.
The NOA stressed that the media and civil society play a critical role in shaping public opinion, building trust between government and citizens, and promoting unity.
It announced that the campaign will be implemented at the grassroots across all 17 local government areas in Yobe State, through school visits, town hall meetings, roadshows, and advocacy with traditional and religious leaders.
The agency urged Nigerians to take ownership of the initiative to advance peace, unity and national progress.
