Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as Omoborty, has shared her thoughts on marriage, urging women not to measure their union by the number of years spent together but by grace, intentionality, and peace of mind.
The actress made her remarks in a heartfelt Instagram post, where she reflected on the challenges many women face in marriage.
According to her, some men can remain unfaithful or take a second wife even after decades of being married.
“Marriage isn’t about length or years, it’s about grace… even after 50 years, some men can still show that Solomon trait in them. At this point, one can only pray, may God bless every good and intentional man who keeps his vows pure,” she wrote.
Omoborty stressed that the number of years spent in marriage does not automatically guarantee loyalty or stability.
Referring to recent stories making the rounds on Instagram, she said many women have discovered that time does not stop a man from misbehaving.

“Following all the gist on Instagram about the recent event, one lesson is clear for every woman. Sadly, length of years in marriage doesn’t stop a man from misbehaving or even taking a second wife,” she stated.
The actress observed that while some men might betray their vows, others remain committed and faithful. She urged women to acknowledge the existence of intentional men who stay true to their partners.
“It’s all in God’s hands, because while some will stain your white, there are still good, intentional, and determined men. May God have mercy on women!” she added.
Omoborty prioritises peace of mind
In her message, Omoborty encouraged women not to sacrifice their peace of mind for the sake of societal expectations. She explained that staying in an unhappy or toxic marriage just to satisfy public opinion could be harmful.
“As a woman, never remain where peace is lost just because of what people will say. Let them talk, your peace is your true wealth,” she advised.
Her post has sparked widespread discussions among fans and social media users, many of whom praised her for voicing concerns that reflect the struggles of women in difficult marriages. Some applauded her courage for speaking out, while others noted that her words serve as a reminder for women to prioritize their well-being above societal pressures.
Omoborty’s comments come at a time when conversations around marriage, gender roles, and women’s rights are growing louder in Nigeria. In recent months, social media has been flooded with stories of marital scandals, separations, and discussions about infidelity.
For many women, the pressure to remain in a troubled marriage is often fueled by cultural and societal norms. In many communities, divorce is still stigmatized, and women are judged harshly for walking away, regardless of the circumstances.
By stressing that peace is more important than reputation, Omoborty’s message challenges these norms. Her remarks highlight the need for women to prioritize self-respect, mental health, and happiness over external validation.
Despite highlighting the flaws in many marriages, the actress also acknowledged the presence of men who remain committed and faithful. She prayed for such men, describing them as “good and intentional.”
Her recognition of these men, fans say, adds balance to her message, showing that she does not believe all men are unfaithful. Instead, her emphasis is on women being discerning, prayerful, and intentional in their choices.
Following her post, many of Omoborty’s followers flooded her comment section with messages of agreement and appreciation. Some women shared personal experiences, echoing her thoughts about how difficult it can be to stay in an unpeaceful marriage. Others praised her for reminding women that they have the right to choose peace over pain.
Although Omoborty did not reveal if her comments were linked to her own experiences, her tone suggested deep reflection. Known for speaking openly about issues affecting women, she has often used her platform to share messages of empowerment and encouragement.
