Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that the mid-level Agro Food Hub in Sangotedo, Eti-Osa, is over 90 per cent complete, with final touches currently being applied.
The governor, who toured the facility yesterday stated that the hub is a crucial component of the state’s strategy to decentralise food distribution and improve food security for residents.
The Sangotedo hub, which occupies a 23,000 square meter plot, is designed to offer storage facilities, trading floors, and ample parking.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the facility will make it easier for people in the corridor to access fresh produce.
The Sangotedo project is one of several similar hubs under development across Lagos.
The governor confirmed that additional hubs are being built in Agege, Lagos Island, Oregun, and Ikorodu, with plans for more in Epe and Badagry.
These local hubs are designed to connect with a central logistics hub located in Ketu-Ereyun, which will serve as the backbone of the state’s entire food distribution network.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted that these investments are central to the state’s food security agenda and align with key initiatives such as the Lagos Agricultural Roadmap and the “Produce for Lagos” programme.
He expressed confidence that by this time next year, the hubs will be operational and significantly improve food accessibility for residents.
Earlier, the governor commissioned a 550-seater auditorium at the Epe campus of Lagos State University.
The facility was donated by the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Olatunji Bello, as part of his commitment to education and service to the state.
Sanwo-Olu described the building as a space where ideas would be exchanged and students encouraged to aim higher.
He added that it would serve as a hub for academic discourse, cultural exchange, and strategic engagements, thereby enriching the learning environment and inspiring students to strive for excellence.

“I am grateful to Mr Bello for giving back in such a meaningful way. His generosity aligns with our vision to strengthen education through our THEMES+ Agenda, and it reminds us that we can achieve much more when we work together.
“For our students, this is a gift of opportunity. I believe it will enrich their learning and strengthen LASU’s culture of excellence for years to come”, he said.
