A Peruvian woman has been arrested in Bali after allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine and ecstasy into the Indonesian resort island by concealing the drugs in a sex toy and her underwear.
The 42-year-old, identified by police only as NS, arrived at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport from Qatar on 12 August when her behaviour aroused the suspicions of customs officers.
Following consultation with police, officers conducted a further search and discovered 1.4 kilograms (3.1lbs) of cocaine hidden inside a sex toy concealed in her genitals, as well as in her underwear. Police also accused her of carrying dozens of ecstasy pills.

At a press conference, Bali police narcotics unit director Radiant said the woman admitted she had been recruited to transport the drugs by a man she met on the dark web in April. She was reportedly promised $20,000 for delivering the narcotics to Indonesia.
She has been charged under Indonesia’s strict narcotics law, which carries the possibility of the death penalty for drug trafficking offences.
Indonesia enforces some of the world’s harshest drug laws. Dozens of foreign and local traffickers remain on death row, including a 69-year-old British woman convicted of cocaine smuggling.
The country last carried out executions in 2016, when one Indonesian and three Nigerian drug convicts were executed by firing squad.
