The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed it is investigating an alleged incident involving Fuji music star, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as KWAM 1, following a formal petition lodged by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Mike Achimugu, has warned that preventing an aircraft from taking off can be classified as an act of terrorism.
Speaking on Arise TV on Sunday about the recent altercation involving Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, Achimugu stressed that passengers must always show courtesy and follow instructions from airport officials.
“Your first responsibility at the airport is respect and obey instructions from the officials on ground. The passenger (KWAM 1) has not done that,” he said.
He emphasised that such conduct is a serious offence internationally.
“What he (Kwam 1) did in most climes is considered terrorism. You cannot stop an aircraft from taking off. There is nothing that excuses it,” Achimugu stated.
The petition relates to claims that the veteran musician engaged in behaviour that disrupted the safe operation of an aircraft at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on 5 August 2025.
The act, according to the NCAA, may have breached provisions of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has instructed the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Command to open a full investigation.
The probe will examine the events leading to the incident, with the aim of establishing the facts and determining appropriate action.

Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the Force remains committed to safeguarding Nigeria’s aviation environment.
He added that law enforcement will continue working closely with aviation stakeholders to ensure adherence to safety regulations and enhance overall security in the sector.
