He emphasised that local government is the closest tier of governance to the people and plays a pivotal role in delivering essential services.
“The election offers Lagosians an opportunity to shape the leadership of their local councils by voting for Chairmen and Councillors who will represent their interests and drive development in their communities,” Mr Sanwo-Olu said.
He stressed that beyond being a constitutional duty, voting was a vital expression of civic responsibility and urged registered voters across the state to turn out in large numbers and cast their ballots peacefully.
To ensure the safety and credibility of the exercise, the governor revealed that security agencies would be strategically deployed across polling units and communities.
He assured residents that law enforcement officials would be on the ground to safeguard voters, electoral personnel, and materials.
Mr Sanwo-Olu also commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for its preparedness, saying the commission had given assurances of a smooth and credible process.
He further appealed to political actors, candidates, and party agents to conduct themselves peacefully and uphold the principles of fairness and respect for the rule of law.
He also urged youths to steer clear of violence and act as ambassadors of peace.
