The Chief Executive Officer of X (formerly Twitter), Linda Yaccarino, has resigned from her position.
Yaccarino’s resignation as the CEO of Elon Musk’s social media platform comes after spending two years in the role.
She made known her stepping down via the X platform on Wednesday. However, she did not provide any reason behind her exit.
Before her appointment, in May 2023, when Musk bought the X platform in a $44 billion deal, she was a former advertising executive at NBC Universal.
Yaccarino officially took over from Musk as the CEO in June 2023.
Announcing her exit, Yaccarino tweeted, “After two incredible years, I’ve decided to step down as CEO of 𝕏.
“When #elonmusk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company.
“I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.”
Yaccarino hails X team
She hailed the team X for the “historic business turnaround we have accomplished together has been nothing short of remarkable. We started with the critical early work necessary to prioritise the safety of our users, especially children, and to restore advertiser confidence.
Yaccarino added that the “team has worked relentlessly from groundbreaking innovations like Community Notes, and, soon, X Money, to bringing the most iconic voices and content to the platform.
She noted her exit as the CEO has come, and the best is yet to come as X enters a new chapter with #xai.
Giving her description about Musk’s platform, she labelled it as “truly a digital town square for all voices and the world’s most powerful culture signal.”
