Popular social media activist and commentator, Vincent Otse Martins, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has once again thrown his weight behind the ongoing demand for justice for the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad.
In a recent Instagram post, he explained why he has decided to return to the case with renewed energy.
According to him, he now has the influence, following, and financial power necessary to make a bigger impact.
“Now is the right time”, VeryDarkMan
VeryDarkMan, known for his bold commentary and activism, said he believes the time is right to re-engage with the case due to the significant progress he has made in building his platform.
He stated, “So you want to know why I started this justice for Mohbad again? It’s because, unlike before, I now have more engagement, more followers, more influence, and most importantly, more money. This is the best time for me to fight this matter.”
He further described his current fan base and online presence as the strongest in the country. Referring to his supporters as “Ratel,” he said their movement now carries significant weight.
“Now it’s not just one fan base talking. I have the strongest movement in Nigeria. Ratel is the strongest. So yes, this is the right time,” he added.
Dismisses claims of chasing clout
In the same post, VeryDarkMan addressed critics who have accused him of using Mohbad’s case to chase social media clout or to make money from platforms like YouTube.
He dismissed those claims, revealing that he has already spent millions of naira supporting those affected by the case. He also emphasised that his motivation is not profit but justice.
“People say I’m using this for clout or YouTube money. What money? Do you even know how much I’ve spent already?” he said.
Financial support to those affected
VeryDarkMan revealed that he gave Mohbad’s former driver ₦300,000 and even promised to help him find a stable job, stating that the driver is struggling to survive.
“I gave Mohbad’s driver ₦300,000. That man is just trying to survive from hand to mouth. I promised him a job. I’m not just talking, I’m helping,” he said.
He also mentioned assisting Primeboy, another person linked to the case, saying, “You know how much I gave Primeboy? He can no longer sell his music. People don’t like him because of how this case played out.”
Over ₦3 million already spent
The activist disclosed that he has already spent close to ₦3 million on efforts related to the case. This includes direct financial help and other support aimed at seeking justice for Mohbad.
“I’ve spent almost ₦3 million on this matter. Why? Because now I’m ready for it. The boy will get justice. Slowly but surely, you will all see it happen,” he declared.
“This matter never quenched”
VeryDarkMan concluded by warning those who believe that public interest in the case has died down. He said he is determined to keep pushing until the truth comes out and justice is served.
“They think the case has died? No, it hasn’t. This matter never quench,” he said with confidence.
Mohbad’s tragic death
The renewed attention comes amid ongoing calls for justice in the case of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances. The singer’s sudden death sparked nationwide outrage and protests, as many fans and celebrities demanded a thorough investigation into the events leading to his demise.
VeryDarkMan’s re-entry into the case could potentially reignite public pressure on authorities to act and provide answers.
