The National Secretary of the newly formed African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has appealed to his supporters to refrain from insulting or attacking members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Friday in Lagos, shortly after the ADC’s official launch aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Aregbesola, who served as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in Lagos State under Tinubu, called for a respectful and fact-based approach in political discourse.
Taking to social media, the former Ogun State Governor expressed gratitude to supporters who welcomed him at the Lagos airport.
However, he warned against any form of hostility or confrontation, urging followers to focus on the significant challenges facing Nigeria instead.

“The task before us is immense, and I reminded everyone that we do not need to fight, insult, or attack anyone,” Aregbesola said in his statement.
He advised ADC members to respond calmly when confronted by ruling party supporters, encouraging them to use facts to highlight the country’s ongoing struggles with food inflation, economic hardship, rising living costs, and widespread poverty.
“When others resort to abuse or name-calling, we must rise above it. Instead, ask them one simple question: Are Nigerians better off today than they were before? Challenge them with facts on food inflation, the economy, the rising cost of living, and the deepening poverty affecting millions,” the statement added.
Aregbesola’s call comes as the ADC positions itself as a serious opposition force ahead of the 2027 elections, advocating for a civil and issue-focused political engagement across Nigeria.
