Popular Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, has publicly defended himself in a new social media post.
In a strong statement shared online, Peter claimed that certain people close to him are working hard to damage his image. He said they are trying to make him look like a liar.
He made it clear that he is not someone to be pushed aside or spoken for. “I’m not May D or Cynthia Morgan,” he said, referring to artists who had past disputes with his family’s music label. “I’m Peter Okoye, the one and only Rock/Okwute of the Okoyes,” he added.
He ended his message with strong words: “The truth shall prevail. #UnaThiefAbiUnaNoThief #FamilyDoesNotStealFromFamily.”
Cynthia Morgan responds
Cynthia Morgan, one of the artists mentioned by Peter, responded to his post. She shared her thoughts on her Instagram story, revealing that she had mixed feelings about seeing her name mentioned in such a way.
She said, “I’m not a weak person. Certain family members made it look so.” She also mentioned Peter directly, saying that he was part of the group that once misunderstood her. “Until you found out what they were doing to you too,” she said.
Morgan’s final remark hinted at her earlier decision to stay silent: “Na me listen to una sha,” meaning she once believed what they told her.
Background of the dispute
The Okoye brothers, Peter, Paul, and Jude, were once united under the music group P-Square and the record label Northside Entertainment. However, over time, the family has faced public fallouts and disagreements.
Cynthia Morgan was formerly signed to Northside Entertainment. Her exit from the label was not smooth. Years ago, she accused the label, managed by Jude Okoye, of limiting her career and controlling her brand. She claimed she lost access to her social media accounts, stage name, and even her royalties.
At the time, the Okoye brothers gave their side of the story. Jude Okoye denied the accusations and said Morgan left on her terms. Paul and Peter, on different occasions, tried to distance themselves from the issue.
Peter has since gone solo as Mr. P, while his brother Paul now performs as Rudeboy.
Old wounds, new words
Peter’s new post reopens old wounds. He appears to be pointing fingers at unnamed people around him, possibly family members, who are now treating him the way others were treated in the past.
His mention of Cynthia Morgan and May D suggests he now understands their past complaints. Both artists have spoken in the past about how they felt mistreated by the Okoye family’s business dealings.
May D, another Nigerian singer, once claimed he was never officially signed by the label even though he worked closely with them. He also said he was never given proper credit or support.
Fans react
Since Peter shared his post, fans have taken sides. Some believe he is finally speaking the truth. Others think he should not have dragged Morgan’s name into the matter, especially after years of silence.
Cynthia Morgan’s fans praised her for speaking up. Many said they admired her for staying strong despite her past challenges.
Family tension in the spotlight
This isn’t the first time the Okoye family has faced public issues. Years of tension have followed their breakup as a group. Although the brothers reunited briefly in recent times, it’s clear that not all wounds have healed.
Peter’s message and Cynthia’s reply have once again brought family matters into public view. Whether this leads to more revelations or another round of silence remains to be seen.
For now, one thing is clear: the truth, whatever it may be, is still unfolding.
