The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two octogenarians—80-year-old Ayuba Ashiru and 82-year-old Uloma Uchechi Sunday—alongside her 32-year-old daughter, Chisom, in a nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking.
Ayuba, a convicted ex-drug dealer, was arrested in Sabon Gari, Kaduna, with 2.3kg of skunk.
He admitted to peddling drugs for 46 years. In Abia, NDLEA operatives raided Uloma’s home in Umuaguma Ntigha Uzor village, recovering methamphetamine, tramadol, skunk, and N130,600 cash.
She confessed to running the trade with her daughter after her son’s death.

At Port Harcourt Onne Port, officers seized three million pills of tapentadol and carisoprodol worth N2.1bn.
In Apapa, Lagos, a container of car parts from India was found hiding 169,800 bottles of codeine syrup valued at over N1.1bn.
In Kwara, 199,200 pills of tramadol were recovered from two suspects. NDLEA also arrested a polytechnic student with 650g of cannabis at Favour Lodge, Ilorin.
Other seizures include 143kg of skunk in Niger, 594.8kg in Nasarawa, 67.5kg in Lagos, 198kg in Jigawa, and thousands of pills in Taraba. A 29-year-old suspect was caught on the Abuja-Kaduna highway with an AK-47 hidden in maize.
NDLEA’s WADA sensitization campaign also continued in schools across the country.
Chairman Buba Marwa praised the agency’s efforts in curbing both drug supply and demand.
