Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will be inaugurated on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
In preparation for the event, he has declared the day a public holiday to enable residents to participate fully in the ceremony.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, the governor emphasised that the work-free day would allow citizens to engage in the inauguration activities, including the swearing-in of his deputy, Olayide Adelami.
The inauguration ceremonies commenced on Friday with a Jum’at service at the Akure Central Mosque.

On Sunday, a Church Thanksgiving Service will be held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House, Oke-Ijebu, Akure, the state capital.
Following the official inauguration, a gala night and book presentation will take place at the International Centre for Culture & Events (The Dome), Akure.
Meanwhile, Governor Aiyedatiwa has lifted the restriction of movement for the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025.
However, residents are still encouraged to clean their surroundings despite the lifted restriction.

Speaking at the Jum’at service at the Akure Central Mosque, the governor expressed gratitude to the Muslim community for their unwavering support.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering religious harmony and inclusivity in governance.
Governor Aiyedatiwa underscored the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among religious groups.
He assured the Muslim community of his dedication to policies that promote development, equity, and the overall welfare of the people, regardless of religious affiliations.
He also commended the leadership of the Muslim community in Ondo State for their contributions to societal growth and moral guidance.
He pledged continued collaboration with religious institutions to ensure governance remains people-centred and progressive.
The governor further sought prayers for a successful administration and urged residents to support government initiatives aimed at advancing the state.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede, offered prayers for the governor and his deputy.
He highlighted the importance of good leadership as prescribed in the Qur’an, emphasizing that Allah appoints leaders based on knowledge and physical strength.
The Chief Imam encouraged Governor Aiyedatiwa to lead with justice, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of all citizens.
He also commended the governor’s infrastructural projects across Ondo State, particularly improvements in road networks.
Additionally, Akorede expressed appreciation for the governor’s support of the Muslim Welfare Board, describing it as a testament to his inclusive governance and respect for religious institutions.
He called on residents to pray for the governor’s success, stressing that leadership requires divine guidance, patience, and the collective support of the people to achieve meaningful development.
