The Nigeria Police has condemned the recent outbreak of violence in Osun State, which has led to the destruction of property and the tragic loss of innocent lives.
In response, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun ordered the deployment of additional tactical squads to restore order and security in the state.
In a statement released yesterday by police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the IGP emphasised that the police would not tolerate any acts of lawlessness, hooliganism, or anarchy.
Egbetokun reaffirmed the commitment of police to identifying and prosecuting all those responsible for the unrest, ensuring they face the full weight of the law.
“The Nigeria Police recognizes that violence undermines the democratic process and threatens the well-being of citizens. We are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice,” he said.

The IGP issued a stern warning to individuals and groups attempting to disrupt peace and stability in Osun State, declaring that security agencies would take decisive action against those engaging in criminal activities.
He urged all Osun indigenes, leaders, and stakeholders to shun violence and uphold democratic principles by respecting judicial rulings on electoral disputes.
As security operatives worked to restore normalcy, the Police assured residents that measures were in place to prevent further breakdowns of law and order.
Citizens were advised to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, as the Force remains vigilant in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
“The situation in Osun State will continue to be closely monitored, with authorities taking necessary steps to maintain peace and order throughout the region.”
