Two-time former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, visited President Bola Tinubu today at his Lagos residence.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga shared details of the meeting on his X page.
He revealed that the Nigerian boxer gifted the President a signed boxing glove.
The inscription on the glove read: “To the Great Asiwaju Jagaban Borgu of Africa, Bola A. Tinubu.”

He wrote, “AJ visits President Tinubu in Lagos. President Bola Tinubu receiving an autographed glove from former World Heavyweight Champion, Anthony Joshua when he visited the President at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos. January 1, 2025.”
In December 2024, The New Daily Prime reported that Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, appointed Joshua as a Sports Ambassador.
The governor commended Joshua’s remarkable achievements in boxing, emphasising how they continue to inspire millions, including the people of the state.

He noted that Joshua’s commitment, discipline, and pursuit of excellence embody the core values the state upholds.
The boxer, accompanied by some family members, visited a special courtesy call.
Governor Abiodun further announced plans to build a new indoor boxing ring, which will be named in Joshua’s honour.

Additionally, he disclosed that the 35-year-old boxer would light the torch for the Gateway Games National Sports Festival, now rescheduled for May next year.
