Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has announced the completion of the state’s airport, declaring it ready for operations.
In December 2024, New Daily Prime reported that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) granted the airport a six-month license to commence non-scheduled flight activities.
During his New Year broadcast aired across all radio and television stations in the state, the governor explained that the six months would be used to test the airport’s systems and finalize preparations for full operations starting June 15 this year.

Describing the airport’s readiness as the best New Year gift for the people of Ekiti, Oyebanji expressed his optimism about its impact on the state.
“For us in Ekiti, the commencement of flights at the airport is a validation of our continuity mantra, it also marks a significant milestone in our strategic vision of linking the economy of our State to the rest of the world, as well as the expansion of Ekiti economy into a new arena of prosperity and opportunities.
