Voters in Kano State’s Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency turned out in encouraging numbers on Saturday as a by-election proceeded without incident, under the close watch of electoral and security authorities.
The exercise, which began on Saturday, saw personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other security agencies deployed across polling units in the constituency.
Their mandate: enforce electoral guidelines and sustain order throughout the process.

To assess compliance firsthand, Kano State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori toured Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Areas.
He was joined by INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Abdu Zango and members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).

Bakori confirmed that security operatives were “strategically deployed across the constituency to ensure adequate security and maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.”
He noted that voter conduct had been commendable so far.
“We are satisfied with the level of compliance observed so far and urge residents to continue conducting themselves peacefully as the process continues,” the commissioner stated.
Zango echoed that assessment, describing the atmosphere as calm and the exercise as free of any major incident.
According to him, security agencies had effectively discharged their duty to protect both voters and INEC officials, keeping the process “smooth and orderly.”
On the technical side, the Resident Electoral Commissioner reported that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices “are working very well.”
He added that polling units opened as scheduled at 8:30 a.m. and that turnout had been significant.
“Our BVAS machines are working very well, polling units opened at 8:30 a.m., and there is a significant turnout of voters.
We are very happy with the development,” Zango said.
Monitoring of activities continued across the constituency as voting progressed.
