President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace love, tolerance and unity, calling on citizens to reject discrimination, ethnic division and hatred.
Tinubu spoke with journalists shortly after observing the Eid Mubarak prayer at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos State.
The President said the lessons of the festive season should inspire compassion, generosity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
“We thank Him for His mercy, and we must learn from the lessons of this season by showing love to one another,” he said.

“No discrimination, no ethnicity, no hatred. We should share love and be generous to one another in a way that reflects the values of our country and our common humanity.”
Tinubu also stressed the importance of tolerance and adherence to both religious and civic responsibilities.
“It is essential that we remain tolerant, obedient to the will of Allah, and obedient to the rule of law, which must guide our society,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has deployed Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams to worship centres, recreational facilities and other public spaces as part of enhanced security measures ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
According to the Command, the deployment is aimed at ensuring a safe and peaceful celebration across the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement issued by the PPRO, SP Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, said security operations had been intensified across the territory in collaboration with other agencies.
The statement noted that the police are working alongside the military, Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigerian Immigration Service under a joint security operation code-named “Operation Sweep FCT.”
