The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on residents of the nation’s capital to support President Bola Tinubu, insisting that governance is based on mutual agreements between leaders and citizens.
Wike made the appeal on Monday while addressing traders and residents at the Kado Fish Market during an inspection tour of the Dei-Dei to Life Camp Road project in Abuja.
He told residents that his administration would continue to deliver infrastructure projects, but stressed that communities must also fulfil their part of what he described as a social and political “agreement”.
“This part of life is agreement, isn’t it? If you do for me, I do for you no be so?” Wike said while speaking to the crowd.
He added that since the President had fulfilled his own commitments through ongoing infrastructure development in the FCT, residents were also expected to show support in return.
“Now that the president has fulfilled his own promise, you must fulfil your own promise, isn’t it so?” he said.
Wike further assured residents that more development projects were underway in the capital city, including the installation of streetlights along key roads once community cooperation is sustained.
“Don’t worry, we will install streetlight here,” he promised.
The minister has recently embarked on a series of inspections across Abuja, reviewing road construction projects and other infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving transportation and urban connectivity.
Projects such as the Dei-Dei to Life Camp Road are part of broader efforts by the Federal Capital Territory Administration to enhance road networks, reduce traffic congestion, and improve safety within the capital.
Wike has consistently maintained that his administration is focused on delivering visible infrastructure results, while urging residents to support government initiatives that he says are aimed at improving living standards across the FCT.
