Remo Stars have expressed deep disappointment following their relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), confirming they will compete in the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season after finishing 17th on the table with 47 points.
The club, which enjoyed a remarkable campaign last season by winning the 2024–25 NPFL title, admitted it failed to maintain the level of performance and consistency required to remain in the top flight.
In a statement released on Monday, Remo Stars acknowledged the disappointment felt across the entire club structure, including supporters, players, staff, and management.
“Following the conclusion of the 2025–26 NPFL season, Remo Stars will now compete in the Nigeria National League, NNL, next season,” the club said.
“The outcome of the season is very disappointing for everybody connected to the club, supporters, players, staff and management who have invested emotions into the journey.”
The club further admitted that expectations were high following their recent success but said they ultimately fell short of delivering consistent results throughout the campaign.
“We understand the disappointment and frustration this season has brought, the expectation attached to this club are high. We didn’t deliver the performance and consistency required to maintain our place in the division,” the statement added.
Despite the setback, Remo Stars assured supporters that immediate steps would be taken to rebuild and return to Nigeria’s top tier.
The club emphasised that “important decisions” would be made in the coming weeks, with all efforts now directed towards securing a swift return to the NPFL.
NEW DAILY PRIME recalls that Remo Stars made history in the 2024–25 season by winning their first NPFL title, marking a dramatic rise in Nigerian club football before their sudden relegation the following year.
