Actress Tonto Dikeh’s ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, has dismissed reports of a marital crisis involving his wife, Rosy Meurer, stating that there is no legally recognised marriage between them.
The clarification comes amid viral claims that Meurer had filed for divorce following alleged tensions linked to Churchill’s reported reconciliation with Tonto Dikeh, who is now an evangelist.
However, reacting to divorce documents circulating online, Churchill described the reports as false and misleading.

In a series of posts shared via his Instagram page on Wednesday, the businessman argued that the foundation of the divorce claim is flawed, insisting that his relationship with Meurer does not meet the legal requirements of a marriage that would necessitate formal dissolution.
“What took place was an introduction. Therefore, the idea of a ‘divorce’ is baseless from the outset,” he said.
Churchill further explained that there was no church or court wedding between him and Meurer, which, according to him, means there is no legally binding union to be dissolved through divorce proceedings.
“The reports circulating online about a supposed divorce between myself and Roseline Meurer are completely false. There is no truth to them. There was no legally recognized marriage. There was no church wedding and no court wedding,” he added.
He also questioned the authenticity and legitimacy of the documents being circulated, raising concerns about due process.
According to him, he was never formally served any legal notice, which is a fundamental requirement in legitimate legal proceedings.
“Beyond that, any legitimate legal process requires that all parties be formally served and given the opportunity to respond. I was never served,” he stated, adding, “So I ask a simple question: what exactly is being presented to the public, and how was it obtained?”
Churchill did not hold back in criticising those he believed may have influenced the situation, suggesting that Meurer may have received poor advice from individuals lacking proper expertise in media and legal matters.
“I’m 100% sure that individuals without proper experience in the media space are advising Rosy incorrectly, alongside legal practitioners who operate under a mango tree without due process and claim to produce divorce documents within 24 hours,” he said.
The controversy has reignited public interest in Churchill’s personal life, particularly his past relationship with Tonto Dikeh, which ended in a highly publicised separation.
His alleged recent reconciliation with Dikeh has also contributed to speculation surrounding his current marriage.
As of now, Rosy Meurer has not publicly responded to Churchill’s claims, leaving many questions unanswered about the true state of their relationship.
The situation continues to generate mixed reactions online, with some observers calling for restraint and clarity, while others debate the legal and cultural definitions of marriage in Nigeria.
In Nigeria, marital recognition can vary depending on whether a union is conducted traditionally, religiously, or legally through civil registration.
Churchill’s insistence that only an “introduction” took place raises questions about how their relationship was formalised and perceived publicly.
While the claims and counterclaims continue to unfold, the situation highlights the complexities that can arise when personal relationships intersect with public scrutiny, especially in the age of social media, where information, accurate or otherwise, can spread rapidly.
For now, Churchill maintains that the reports of a divorce are unfounded, reiterating that there is no legal basis for such proceedings in the first place.
