The Oyo State Police Command has arrested another suspect linked to a kidnapping syndicate earlier busted in Ikoyi-Ile, as part of ongoing operations against violent crime.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, said in a statement on Monday that the suspect, Taye Adamu, was arrested on April 5 at about 4:50 p.m. at Iluju Village by operatives of the Ikoyi-Ile Division.
Olayinka said the arrest followed “credible intelligence and sustained follow-up operations.”
He added that the suspect is “strongly believed to be a member of the same criminal syndicate whose members were arrested on 4th April, 2026.”
He said the suspect confessed during interrogation to involvement in “various kidnapping and other violent criminal activities” in the area, and also provided useful information to investigators.
The police had earlier arrested members of the gang with an AK-47 rifle in Ikoyi-Ile.
The Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for what he described as a “discreet and comprehensive investigation.”

He added that efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the group.
The Command said the arrest shows its “sustained operational momentum in dismantling criminal networks” across the state.
It also commended officers involved in the operation and thanked residents for their support, noting that “accurate and timely information sharing remains critical” in the fight against crime.
Police assured residents that operations would continue until kidnapping and other violent crimes are reduced to the barest level in the state.
