President Bola Tinubu has reacted to recent attacks and kidnappings in Plateau and Kaduna States, urging security agencies to be more proactive.
In a statement shared on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu ordered security agencies to take better preventive measures to stop such violence.
He directed the military and police to improve their response to early warning signs to protect citizens from further harm.
Tinubu described the recent killings in Jos and the abduction of wedding guests in Kaduna as “barbaric acts” that will be punished.
He called the attackers “heartless cowards” for targeting innocent people under the cover of night.
Tinubu maintained that the goal of these criminals is to cause fear and prompt revenge attacks between different groups of people.
To prevent more violence, he said:
“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive in preventing these attacks by acting on early warning intelligence. All the remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately.”
Addressing the cause of the tension, Tinubu warned against spreading misinformation.
He encouraged communities to follow safety advice from the government, including relocation or evacuation when necessary.
