The speculation emerged after the two appeared together in a film that featured scenes requiring close physical interaction.
Some social media users began suggesting that the chemistry between the actors went beyond acting, especially because Bambam is married.
Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Igbo, Arukwe clarified that the rumours were unfounded and that he was mindful of professional boundaries throughout the production.
According to the actor, he was particularly cautious because Bambam is married, and he did not want any of the scenes they performed to create unnecessary tension in her personal life.
“Before I touched her, I asked her if there was any way I could touch her that her husband wouldn’t like or that might cause problems at home,” Arukwe said.
He explained that the conversation was necessary to ensure mutual understanding and respect before filming scenes that involved physical contact. The actor noted that maintaining professionalism and respecting colleagues’ personal lives is important in the film industry.
Arukwe further dismissed claims that the two were involved romantically outside the movie set. According to him, the project was actually the first time he had ever met Bambam in person.
“That movie was the first time I had ever met her,” he said.
Despite this, he noted that speculation quickly spread online after the film was released, with some people claiming the pair were secretly dating or had been intimate during the production.
“But people started saying we slept together and were dating, which was completely false,” he added.
The actor emphasised that what viewers saw on screen was simply a performance and part of the storytelling required by the script. He stressed that actors often portray intimate roles that do not reflect their real-life relationships.
Arukwe’s response highlights the challenges actors sometimes face when audiences blur the line between fiction and reality. In many cases, convincing performances can lead viewers to assume that on-screen chemistry reflects real-life relationships.
The clarification has sparked discussion among fans online, with some supporting the actor’s explanation and others commenting on the importance of respecting professional boundaries in the entertainment industry.
Arukwe concluded by reiterating that his interaction with Bambam was strictly professional and that he remains committed to maintaining respect for colleagues and their families while working on film sets.
