Yoruba actor, Ganiu Nofiu, popularly known as Alapini, reaffirmed his support for Bola Tinubu during an interview with colleague Kunle Afod, arguing that a fair reading of the president’s record shows a leader focused on national development.
Alapini told Afod he believes Tinubu isn’t motivated by money or fame and deserves another term — though, he added, powerful interests inside the presidential villa are hampering the president’s work.
“Those who are fair-minded will see that he wants to lead the country well. Is it money or fame that he is looking for? He already has both.”
“Aso Rock houses powerful and dangerous interests, like a forest filled with lions, tigers and cobras. It takes a brave hunter to enter such a place and succeed,” the actor said, referring to Aso Rock.
“There are many people in Aso Rock who do not want solutions to Nigeria’s problems to come from Tinubu because they fear that the secrets he knows may be exposed. The way he is governing requires knowledge and strategy.
“That is why some people still believe there is hardship in the country. If he did not apply wisdom in governing, he would not achieve anything before leaving office. Ultimately, it is God who governs the affairs of men, and we should accept that.”
The endorsement marks a reversal from comments Alapini made last year.
In June 2025, during an appearance on African A-List, he expressed regret for campaigning for Tinubu in 2023 — saying the enthusiasm he once felt had since turned to disappointment.
