Iran has offered to back Nigeria in its struggle against violent extremism and insurgent groups.
The Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mahdavi Raja, made this known in an interview on ARISE News.
He explained that Iran is ready to work with the Nigerian government to improve security and stop terrorist activities.
Raja stated that Iran views Nigeria as a very important partner. He noted that both nations face similar security problems.
Because Iran has also been a victim of terrorism in the past, Raja noted that the country is willing to confront the difficulty Nigeria is currently facing.
Specifically, Raja mentioned the threats posed by groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
He made it clear that Iran condemns these groups and their actions.
He said, “As a victim of terrorism ourselves, we condemn terrorism in Nigeria.”
Raja emphasised that Iran is prepared to share its experience to help Nigeria overcome these persistent threats.
He also pointed out that terrorism is no longer just a problem for one country; he described it as a responsibility that requires global communities to work together.
This shows that strong partnerships among countries can help combat security challenges.
Raja maintained that Iran is ready to cooperate with any country struggling against violence.
