A Hezbollah drone strike on Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) training camp near Binyamina, a town located about 20 miles south of Haifa in northern Israel, has killed four Israeli soldiers and injured 61 others.

According to the IDF, who confirmed that seven of the injured soldiers are in critical condition following the strike, the Hezbollah attack was in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon and Beirut last Thursday.

Also, Hezbollah’s media office confirmed that the group used a “swarm of drones” to attack the Golani Brigade camp, marking one of the largest assaults on an Israeli military position in over a year.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military has named the four slain soldiers. The IDF said the soldiers were all 19 years old.

It named them as Sergeant Omri Tamari, Sergeant Yosef Hieb, Sergeant Yoav Agmon and Sergeant Alon Amitay.

Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s ambulance service, initially reported that 61 people were injured, including three critically. Of the injured, 37 were transported to regional hospitals by ambulance and helicopter.

According to reports, the drones hit the canteen when it was full for dinner and the ambulance service said 61 people were injured.

Emergency services, including helicopters, worked throughout the evening to evacuate the wounded to hospitals in Hadera, Tel Hashomer, Haifa, Afula, and Netanya.

Initially, Israeli media withheld details about the location of the attack due to censorship rules, but the IDF later confirmed it occurred at the Binyamina base.
