Twelve passengers who sustained minor injuries from the American airlines flight engulfed in flames have been transported to the hospital following the evacuation of all passengers and crew members through the slide.

Denver International Airport confirmed this in a post shared on their social media platform X.

“DEN emergency crews responded to an aircraft incident earlier this evening at gate C38. All passengers were safely evacuated from the plane. 12 people were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. DEN operations are normal. Refer to @AmericanAir for further details,” Denver shared.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the American Airlines Boeing jet was engulfed in flames after landing at Denver International Airport in Colorado on Thursday.

The FAA statement added that Flight 1006, which was heading to Dallas Fort Worth from Colorado Springs Airport, was later diverted to Denver after the crew observed engine vibrations.

Local reports noted that 172 passengers and six crew members were led to the terminal.

“After landing and while taxiing to the gate, an engine caught fire, and passengers evacuated the aircraft using the slides,” the FAA said in a statement.

An airport spokesperson disclosed to a media outlet that firefighters had attended to the situation, according to a report.

Following the incident, the FAA said an investigation would be launched.
