Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has reassured fans that he is “all good” after being stretchered off during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.
The 27-year-old Uruguay international fell unchallenged while attempting to head a ball from a corner just six minutes into the match. After receiving treatment on the pitch for about nine minutes and requiring oxygen, Bentancur was taken to hospital for further checks.
He took to Instagram in the early hours of Thursday morning, thanking fans for their messages and congratulating his teammates for the 1-0 victory. “All good, guys. Thank you for the messages. Congratulations for the victory, boys,” he posted.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou also offered an update after the match, stating, “I don’t have all the information, but he was conscious when he got to the dressing room. We took him to the hospital to get checked over.”
The win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was secured by a late strike from Lucas Bergvall, giving Spurs a crucial advantage heading into the second leg of the semi-final.
